Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Families, Faculty and Staff of Everest Academy,

Congratulations! On my behalf and that of the Board of Directors of Everest Academy, we THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATE YOU on the completion of another bountiful and beautiful year at Everest Academy.  Because of your dedication to your families and the ongoing growth and development of Everest Academy, our school continues to be a blessing for our all of us. Thank you to all of our team leaders who generously helped carry out our year end activities, all of which allowed us to celebrate the many successes of our students over this excellent school year: to Susie Lambert and families for a fabulous Field Day full of fun and games; to Mrs. Mary DeRoche and all of our Grade 7 parents who hosted the Graduation Breakfast and provided the refreshments for the Graduation ceremonies; to Mrs. Maureen Dillenberg who made the beautiful 8th Grade presentation and provided the DVD and a lovely album of pictures for each graduate; to Mrs. Shirell Mollo, who designed and produced our very first basketball championship banner, which she had prepared in record time to have on display for all to see before the close of this school year.

Awards: Well Done Students! So much has been accomplished and taken place. As a result, this past school year certainly seemed to have gone by rather quickly. This is always a sign of living life to the full. At Everest, we have lived wholeheartedly our rigorous academics, traditions, and events and we have formed new friendships while also growing deeper in some - all of which we are so grateful for.  It is without question that our students and all involved in their education have given their utmost.  Awards were presented at all levels with each student fully deserving to be recognized for his or her dedication and hard work.

Congratulations to James Beecher, our fine recipient of the Integer Award. This is the highest award presented to a graduating 8th grader. James has been with us since his primary years and has been an outstanding student in every way.  Academically, James continually excels with high honors; he is a young man of character who has an active faith life and is always willing to be of service to others. James is an excellent leader and has done very well in taking advantage of all he has been provided throughout his education at school, complimenting all he has received through his family.

We are very proud of each of our students for all they have accomplished. It is remarkable to see how much each student has grown and matured over the school year. We know it is a privilege to work with each of our students; they are leaders here at Everest, in their community, and will be in the future.  We are pleased to be able to say that they are Everest students and that we know each one by his or her unique character qualities and in the special gift each is to us as children of God.

Farewell to our Graduates: We especially congratulate our 8th grade graduates: James Beecher, Joseph Colarelli, Timothy Lawler, Mercedes Patterson, Ryan Angelo Mollo, Jonathan Sutkowski, Brian Trochuck, Brian Wroblewski, and their parents. These families have arrived this year at the culmination of many years of dedication, generosity, and persistent work on their part. We have those families that have been with us over the years and those who just joined us this past year. It has been a privilege to share in the lives of these fine graduates. We are pleased to have most of our graduate families returning as they have children remaining. We do however wish the very best to the Sutkowski and Trochuck families, as Jon and Brian (respectively) are the youngest in their families. The Sutkowski and Trochuck families will be missed. They have been instrumental in the building of our school and have been very generous in so many ways. We look forward to seeing them at the Conquest events for young men, as well as parent and alumni activities.

The Class of 2013 has been a truly special class. They were clearly united in Christ in their friendship and they truly brought out the best in one another. What an outstanding class of accomplished young people! They are solid Christian leaders who can and will transform society according to Gospel values.

Faculty Members and New Placements: We have wonderful teachers and Everest would not be what it is without them.We wanted to provide special and well deserved recognition to our teachers for their service to our school for five or more years: Mrs. Elaine Fleck (7 yrs), Mrs. MaryAnn DeBiase (6 years), Mrs. Sue Reynolds (6 years), and Mrs. Maria O'Connor (6 years).  They were presented with a red marble apple as a token of our appreciation.

We will notify our families by the end of June as to the final faculty placements at Everest Academy.  As always, we set out to seek out the best possible teachers for our children. In anticipation of our growth, we have been receiving resumes since February. We have reviewed numerous resumes and have interviewed over 60 candidates. To date we have viable candidates and of these, we have hired a 3rd grade and a 5th grade teacher. We are intent on assigning the right candidates and will introduce the members of our complete team as soon as possible. We are in the process of hiring for the following positions. Please contact me if you have any referrals for any of these positions:

•    Pre-K 4 Teacher
•    Grade 1 Teacher
•    Middle School English/History Teacher
•    Additional Administrative support
•    Assistant Custodian (4 hours per day cleaning)

We will be adding new members to our faculty, which implies change and adjustments. We see this as very positive trusting that our newest members will benefit our team and school, bringing new talent and leadership that will enrich the lives of our children. At Everest Academy, our method of Integral Formation® implies the work of an entire team who provide personal attention to and care of the education of each student.  The team of our Chaplain, Brother, and Consecrated lay persons, Dean of Students, office staff and I, as Principal, contribute in a specific and particular manner to the overall development of the students - all of which adds to the personal attention offered to each one and to his or her progress. This provides consistency in our approach to the education of each student over the years that they are with us at Everest Academy.

Stanford 10 Results: We are pleased with the progress of our students overall compared to National Standards as well as local private schools. You have received the results of your child's test scores along with the year-end Everest report card. Do not hesitate  to contact me as I encourage you to contact me over the summer if you wish to review in detail these results on the Stanford 10.

Summer Office Hours: Generally, we will be in the office from 8:30-3:00 pm Monday to Friday over the summer. This is also the time of year that the administrative staff take vacation.  Therefore, if you wish to meet with anyone in particular, please plan to call ahead to make arrangements.

2013-14 School Year: Please plan to pick up your child's report card if you have not yet done so. We will have information coming your way for next year very soon. Expect to receive the following information and all that you will need to prepare for the new school year:

•    2013-14 School Calendar
•    Student Supply lists
•    Classroom/Grade Arrangements
•    Faculty Placements
•    Uniform Information

I thank you for all of your prayers and your generous participation in Everest Academy; so many aspects of our school life would not be possible without your help and dedication. I invite you to please call me if you have any further questions or concerns. I am available at anytime. I wish you all a very restful, safe and enjoyable vacation.

I know we are past Father's Day but again happy Father's Day to the world's greatest Dads! We hope you enjoyed your special day and we thank you for being fine leaders in your family.

God bless you.
Sincerely in Christ,

Principal

Dear Everest Academy Parents and Friends,

I hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful fall weather. What a great time for a few more picnics before the colder weather sets in.

Farewell Heidi Matelich: Please stop by to see Heidi at school next week. She will be here Wednesday October 3rd. We will miss Heidi greatly. We know she will keep in contact and someday soon, we hope to have her and the new little one back at Everest for school. Heidi has been a fine team member and has been an excellent representative of our school. We appreciate all she has done to build Everest.

Father-Son Camp Out: We thank our dads who prepared and held a great Father-Son Camp Out. We especially thank Mr. Keith Hamilton, Mr. Kerry Baker, Mr. Tom Polivka, Mr. Peter Colarelli, Br. Brett and our male Mission Corp volunteers who did a tremendous work of preparing for this camp out - more details forthcoming.  We commend our brave campers!

Music teacher:  We are very pleased to announce the hiring of our new music teacher Mrs. Tiffany Iwinski. Mrs. Iwinski has had five years teaching experience as a band, music, and drama teacher in Des Plaines School District 62.  She has a fine repertoire of teaching techniques and knowledge of musical concepts.  Mrs. Iwinski began on Friday, September 28th with our students. Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Iwinski.

Visiting during the school day: At Everest Academy we strive to work as a family and to welcome all of our guests. At the same time in order to maintain our professionalism in serving you, we require guidelines that allow us to respect and meet the needs of our families, students, faculty, and staff. I would like to outline a few reminders that will allow us to continue benefiting from our work together in the best interest of all involved:
  • Check in: Please check in at the front desk to obtain visitors pass when coming into volunteer and attend meetings.
  • Observations: If you wish to observe your child in class, please be certain to make these arrangements with the teacher in advance. Periodic observations are permitted if they fulfill a required purpose; yet, they are not encouraged on a frequent basis due to the change of the class dynamic these bring about, as well as the need to maintain the confidentiality due to all the students in the class. This applies during class time as well as with after school programs. Some after school programs such as the martial arts class and dance programs have been pre-designated as open for observation and these are exceptions.  There are cases where parents have signed up to assist and volunteer in the class which has also been foreseen with the instructor/teacher.
  • Meetings: Our teachers always look forward to meeting with you. If you wish to meet, please arrange a meeting in advance with the teacher or with the assistance of Mrs. Klimowski. This allows the teacher to be well-prepared to work with you. It is challenging for teachers to appropriately address parents during instructional time with a class in session and when their attentions need to be on the children. As a faculty and staff we want to work with all of our parents and guests, and we believe we can provide better service and attention to each person when we are able to prepare for meetings and plan for observations.
We are very grateful for our parent involvement and encourage you to participate and communicate with us on an ongoing basis. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Special events to enjoy: October is fast approaching and we are preparing for the many activities that we hope we can enjoy with you.  Our Parents Association has been working hard to plan and prepare for the year as well seeing to important student services such as the hot lunch program and volunteer support. They have met three times already and are now in the thick of Harvest Fest preparations. Don’t miss this excellent Family fun event. It has been an Everest Favorite. Our 5th and 6th graders will be leading the whole school in the Living Rosary on October 5th in honor of Our Blessed Mother Mary with October being the month of the Rosary. This school tradition will surely bring our families the many needed graces and blessings. The Poetry Contest is definitely engaging and October 3rd marks our 2nd annual all school event; all the very best to our participants.

Benet Academy Scholastic Bowl: Recently, we were invited to compete in the Benet Academy Scholastic Bowl.  We have three teams of 7th and 8th graders for a total of twelve students at four per team. We are looking forward to the experience. Come out and cheer on our teams after school on October 2nd at St. Jude in New Lenox.

Project Infinite Green: We will have five students participating in Project Infinite Green. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to develop their interest in science, as well as meet engineers and scientists in the field. We thank Catherine Greenspon, aunt of Mercedes Peterson in 8th grade, who organizes this program. She has invited Everest to participate and has been instrumental in our involvement.

Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for allowing us to work in partnership with you, entrusting your child’s care and education to us. We keep all of our families and benefactors in our daily prayers. We as a faculty and staff count on your prayers as well. Please feel free to contact me at anytime.

God bless you,

Sincerely in Christ,

Dear Everest Academy Parents and Friends,

Congratulations on the completion of week one of the new school year. We are thankful for the wonderful activities that have begun our new school year at Everest Academy thanks to your generosity: Meet and Greet, New Moms' Coffee, Parent Orientation, and the Band Experience meeting. Thank you for your participation.

We are very pleased with the progress of all of our students. Each one has made a special effort to begin the school year on the right course.  Our new students seem to have easily adapted to the school community and are making great new friends. We do know however adjustments to homework and routines will take more time. Know that we as a team are available to assist at anytime.

With that said, I must acknowledge our faculty and staff for all of their hard work and efforts to receive our students. Many faculty members were here throughout the summer preparing for their class. Our administration has been continually working to improve our service and educational product to ensure the best quality education for your child (ren). I am very grateful for our staff and faculty members and trust in their competence and generosity.

This is another important year of growth and development in the success of Everest Academy as we move forward in our mission to assist in the development of Christian leaders. To accomplish this, we provide an integral formation through personalized attention, motivated by love and respect for each of our students.

A key factor in the success of Everest Academy is the help and support we have from our parents and for which we are so appreciative. We ask that you please consider taking part in some aspect of the school life which is always a wonderful way to get to know other families and to build new friendships. Most of all, it will allow you to experience our fine students. Next to having Christ present in the Eucharist here on campus, our students are one of the greatest gifts we have at Everest Academy.

We are in most need of team leaders to spearhead the various committees. To head up a committee may appear somewhat daunting; however, please know that we strive to keep things simple and manageable.  You will have the help and support you need to accomplish your task. Team leaders have the benefit of working closely with our Parents Association, many of whom are "experts" since they have offered their support with various school activities. Thank you for giving of your time and talent which will allow us to fulfill our goals.

I look forward to working with you and your child(ren). We are interested in getting to know you better. Our desire is to learn how we can specifically serve your family and where together we can work in the best interest of your child’s education and in the ongoing development of our school community. You are co-founding families of Everest Academy, building a school of excellence for your children and future generations.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime. Thank you for allowing us to work in partnership with you, entrusting your child’s care and education to us. We keep all of our families and benefactors in our daily prayers and we as faculty and staff count on your prayers as well.

God bless you,

Sincerely in Christ,

Christine Gamache

Dear Everest Academy Parents and Friends, This is the time of year that we really reflect back on all that we are grateful for: our faith, our families, our friends. In a special way we say thank you to all of you, as it is due to your generosity and support that we can offer an Everest education to our students. November has been an eventful month that has definitely passed with record speed. Looking back, we lived it fully by attending to our studies, accomplishing our first report card, attending to Parent Teacher conferences, concluding the coat drive, hosting the middle school retreat, participating in the Lemont Loves the Arts, celebrating All Saints Day, carrying out Poinsettia sales, hosting open houses, celebrating the Big Brother-Big Sister Thanksgiving Feast, beginning the Christmas Pageant rehearsals, preparing for Grandparents Day, hosting a Book Fair, kicking off the Gala, celebrating the Feast of Christ the King, assisting with the Zaccheus House Fundraiser, and finalizing the marketing plan at its best...just to name a few. This month began with the triumphant celebration of All Saints Day and we fully enjoyed the mighty and colorful saints at Everest Academy. The costumes, teamwork, competitions and festivities of the day were very impressive. The student leaders were excellent in motivating their teams to give 100%. We concluded the month with a most heartwarming event: Grandparents Day. The students could not wait for this day to share with their grandparents what they had prepared. We are impressed as to how much God really loves us when we see that love reflected in the unique relationship of Grandparents and their Grandchildren. We thank the Parents' Association and all those who contributed to making this a special gift to our Grandparents. As you may have seen, we have new technology to integrate in our classes. Although not completely part of the original plan, further research on the optimal products for our investment dictated moving forward with a combination of the Mimio Bar for versatility, as well as the installation of the Epson projector for optimal interactive white board use. Stay tuned for further information on this. We also have on loan a PolyVision interactive board, to broaden our possibilities. As a faculty, we attended a technology in-service to help build our experience and learn new ways to incorporate programs available on the internet in our daily lessons. Our annual Book Fair was a success! Thank you for your support. The sale continues up until the 15th of this month as we still have many inspirational books from Ignatius press. These make excellent Christmas gifts. Two main fundraisers are now underway. First, our Gala Committee is planning an amazing event - it will have to be to top last year’s Gala! Gala informational packets including the raffle tickets have been sent home so please review these materials to see how you can assist with this important fundraiser. Second, please remember to send in your pledge for our Annual Fund Campaign. Pledge cards are available at the office. Thank you for your participation. Please do not miss promoting our Open House on Sunday, January 29th. Spread the word and let’s get as many as possible attending. On this note, our Marketing team needs your support. Please help us to promote Everest Academy as much as possible. Contact Heidi for more information. We will hold an informational meeting on December 19th to activate teams to fulfill our marketing strategies. One marketing tip: consider sending an Everest info card out with some of your local Christmas cards to share with as many as possible our gift of education: the integral formation of Christian leaders. We have begun Advent: a time of prayer, reflection, and peace; a time to appreciate and prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas, which is the greatest miracle of all. In assembly, we will light the Advent Candle and reaffirm the commitments we have made to live Advent in a way that opens our hearts to Christ in the anticipation of his arrival. I hope that you will join us as our children are joyfully preparing to celebrate and present Jesus as the reason for the season with the Christmas Pageant, Miracle on Bethlehem Street. I look forward to seeing you then. God bless you, Sincerely in Christ, Christine Gamache
Principal's Message

Dear Everest Academy Parents and Friends,

Congratulations to our students, faculty, staff and parents for the completion of the first quarter. A lot has already taken place in this opening part of the school year due to your participation, help and support. Everest Academy parents are so generously involved in our school.  We are very grateful for the ongoing parental participation in all of the activities. We believe we have a healthy and vibrant school community, offering an academically challenging program as well as place where our students will flourish as Christian leaders day by day and where families can come together in support and  in friendship with one another.

This past month we enjoyed another fun-filled and happy Harvest Fest. Many thanks to Annette Waligora, Renee Yep, Cindy O'Malley, Jenny Duffy and their team who made this event a wonderful time for all. The eye4style is always a fine evening out for the ladies and time to get together. Thank you to our admissions team and parent association for another successful event.

We all enjoyed the presentations at the 1st annual Everest Academy Poetry Contest. Congratulations to our winners. There was some serious and challenging competition. A number of students presented 14 stanza poems. Each finalist gave their best and were very impressive.

I do want to thank you for your participation in the Annual Fund. Each year, parents, parents of alumni, faculty, staff and friends are asked to support Everest Academy through a gift to the Everest Annual Fund.  The school counts on re-occurring annual gifts to maintain our rich tradition of excellence as it funds updates to technology, strengthens academic and extracurricular programs, provides for tuition assistance, and, most importantly, closes the gap between tuition and expenses for all our students. The goal for the 2011-2012 Annual Fund Campaign is to raise $50,000 and a new initiative this year is to achieve 100% participation from our families, faculty and staff before the close of the Campaign on May 30, 2011. This strong participation is critical in demonstrating a broad base of support when we seek funding from foundations and corporations, and especially our own benefactors! Again each tax-deductible gift, no matter the size, brings us that much closer to realizing both of these goals.

We look forward to seeing all of you at Grandparents Day this month. The students are preparing and we are looking forward to this special time with our Grandparents. If Grandparents cannot be present please do not miss the opportunity to invite close friends of the family to join us.

Thank you very much for choosing Everest Academy as the school for your children.

Your families are in my daily prayers.

God bless you,

Sincerely in Christ,

Christine Gamache
Dear Everest Academy Parents and Friends,

The  school  year  is  well  underway  at  Everest  Academy.  I  would  like  to  start  by welcoming all the returning families as well as the fifteen new families and the 20 new students to this school year at Everest Academy. I have enjoyed greeting the families each morning at drop off and it’s wonderful to see how the little ones transition from shyness to smiles and excitement to be with their new friends and teachers.
The  progress  reports  indicate  a  fine  start  for  our  students.  We  thank  you  for  your patience as the beginning of a new school year, the preparations, a primarily new staff and  faculty,  various  new  operational  approaches  do  bring  along  with  it  certain challenges  and  adjustments  for  all  involved. It  has  been  over  a  month that  our  team has  worked  together.  This  time  affirms  for  me  great  appreciation  and  confidence  in each  one  of  our  faculty  and  staff  members  in  providing  our  students  the  Integral Formation® we are striving for. I am very pleased with their generosity and dedication to do their upmost for our students.

Everest  Academy  continues  to  work  to strive  higher  -  Semper  Altius  -  in  all  areas  of the  educational  program.  With  regard  to  academics,  our  teachers  are  taking  part  in professional  development  in  the  Excellence  in  Writing  Program  which  is  just  as  it  is called: a method of teaching students to become excellent writers. This, as well as the explicit  phonics  program,  will  be  the  two  main  areas  of  attention  for  our  professional development  day  to  be  held  on  October  7th.    In  November,  we  will  be  attending  a technology in-service with the teachers of the Arch diocese of Chicago.  All are steps to enhancing our academic program.
In addition, the Apostolic Service program has begun with the all-school level service projects. Change for  Change allows us to continue the sponsorship of tuition for two children in a mission territory in Mexico. We also have a coat drive underway to help those closer to home. We thank you for encouraging your children to participate.
Growing  in  virtue  is  the  basis  of  our  educational  program.  This  past  month  our students focused on what it takes to be a good friend; a simple point being that friends help one another to become better people.
This  is  another  important  year  of  growth  and  development  in  the  success  of Everest Academy.  We are very blessed to have many of our parents who are very involved.  The  progress  of  the  school  would  not  be  possible  without  the  involvement  and  work  of  our  families.  We  thank  the technology committee and the Manna team who have raised the funds for the new technology to be introduced to our classrooms  next  month.  Also,  one  of  the  newest  team  developments  is  the  Marketing  Committee  headed  by  Diane Talbot-Wiggins.  This  team  is  making  real  headway  in  researching  and  developing  a  marketing  plan  that  will  launch Everest Academy to a new level in the surrounding communities, drawing more students and families to Everest.
We  have  already  experienced  the  progress  with  the  Parents  Association  led  by  our  co-presidents,  James  and  Renee Yep, and vice co-presidents, Daniel and Annette Waligora. Thanks to all of our parents who have volunteered to assist in so many areas and who continually give time and talents in unknown ways, all of which will allow us to fulfill our goals.
Please join us this month for many fine events: Harvest Fest, eye4style, our Poetry Contest and the great celebration of All Saints Day on November 1st.  Please invite many friends and families to take part.
We keep all of our families and benefactors in our daily prayers and we as a faculty and staff count on your prayers as well.  Thank you for being part of the Everest Academy community.  God bless you!
Sincerely in Christ,
Christine Gamache
Thank you all very much for your participation and reenrollment. We are very pleased to say that the majority of our families are returning. Knowing that you will be back next year has been of great encouragement and is a confirmation of our unity and resolve to provide the best possible for our children. Thank you!

I would like to leave you with words from an audience of Pope Benedict XVI. "Because of our weakness it is difficult to be silent and sit before God. . . For this reason, during Lent, the Church invites us to be more faithful and intense in our prayer and to meditate at length on the word of God." It is hard at times to be in silence for five minutes anywhere. There are many demands and always something to attend to, as well as often noises all around us -- even if they are pleasant. Jesus in the Gospel calls us to go and pray in secret in our rooms so we can be in silence and hear what God has to say to us. As our Holy Father reminds us "Prayer is, in its depth, a relationship with God. A relationship does not imply talking at every second of contact. A relationship does imply sharing, listening, conversing."

Hopefully, in the remainder of this Lenten season, we can take extra moments to pray. No cell phone, no Blackberry, no iPod, no email, and no Facebook -- just time in silence with God, to hear what He is telling us. Count on our prayers for you and your families.
We are in the middle of the grace-filled season of Lent. At Everest we urge our students to go beyond giving up candy to making a Lenten program of resolutions to do good to others and to overcome some habit that gets in the way of giving their best. Some of the resolutions have been impressive and show the depth and seriousness of our children’s faith. A few are as follows: help my mother daily with my brothers and sisters and not put me first; take time to pray to God each morning for my family and all those in need; do my very best to be a positive example to my classmates; offer a daily sacrifice for our priests. . . All these fine resolutions lead us to conversion by leaving behind an old way of living and beginning to act in a better way in order to embrace new life in Christ. Our children are leading the way in taking these steps to conversion.
Dear Families and Friends of Everest Academy,

On behalf of the administration and staff Happy New Year and Welcome Back! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable and refreshing Christmas break and a wonderful time with loved ones. May we begin to live this
New Year ever grateful for all that we have received and looking forward to all we have been called to do in bringing others closer to Christ in this year.  Thank you for all the lovely gifts and treats that were showered on staff and faculty for Christmas. This was all very kind and generous of you.

I must begin by welcoming our new parents and students to Everest Academy. We are so very pleased to have them join us. What a blessing this is. I invite us all to extend our welcome and support in assisting our
new families to become part of the Everest community.

Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Strazalka, Mr. and Mrs. Krzysiak, Mr. and Mrs. Stolte, Mr. and Mrs. Wiggins, Mr. and Mrs. Lodato, and Mr. and Mrs. Baker for choosing Everest Academy for their family. We also thank Mr. and Mrs. Lobby, Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez, and Mr. and Mrs. Dalton for their ongoing confidence and support by enrolling new members of their families in Everest.

We are right in the half-time of the school year and at the start of a new semester. It is important to approach
this time of year with a sense of renewal as we seek to live the present carrying out the second half of the school year yet at the same time to begin preparing for next year. In the next months we have many exciting
activities and events for which to prepare . This week is Vocations Awareness Week. Although our Vocations activities will be included in Catholic Schools Week we ask that you especially pray for our Priests, Consecrated members all those that are discerning and preparing for the Religious and consecrated life. God calls young men and women to married life, the single life, Religious or Consecrated life, all states of life which are meant to glorify and serve God. Let us pray that our children and youth are generously disposed to the will of God in their lives which will ultimately bring them the most happiness in their lifetime.

We will be hosting the Vicariate I Principal’s Meeting here at Everest Academy on January 20th. This
meeting is intended to serve Catholic schools and families in our area, as well as to continue to build our
relationship with our Catholic schools in the diocese. It is a good opportunity to share our service and
hospitality, share what we have ,with our colleagues from our Catholic schools.

As you know we will also be hosting the Lemont Arts Alive Artistic Expressions Show in February. Our hope is that many of our own students will enter the competition. The information on this event has gone out various times in the past three months. Please encourage your child(ren) to take part in this wonderful opportunity. All projects are to be completed at home; however, they can be brought in for assistance during Art Class. All submissions are due January 19.  We also encourage the ongoing work that is taking place on the Science Projects. The Science Fair will take place during Catholic Schools Week. More details will be announced.

This year let‟s go the extra mile in supporting Everest Knights Basketball Team. The Knights are one of our main athletics teams. So far the Knights have 3 wins and no losses! Great work Knights! We are very pleased that we will have home games as well as the opportunity to host other games for teams in our league. Please plan to come out and join us for our games and cheer on our Everest Knights! Thank you to Dr. Diamond our Knights coach.

This semester we intend to offer various Afterschool Activities. There is a possibility for another chess club, drama club, Lego club as well as Polish classes.  Challenge and ConQuest clubs are also open to all who have not yet discovered the fun and formation right here at Everest on Friday evenings. Our clubs and activities are excellent vehicles to see the talents of our students. We invite all of our community to visit and to see the hard work and effort our students put into these activities and events.

Catholic Schools Week begins at the end of January and “A+ for America”  is this year‟s theme. Our events during the week will express appreciation for those that make Catholic Schools happen: our parents, students, teachers, Religious and Consecrated members. We will be sending out the agenda for the week and invite you to drop by anytime and to join in on any of the festivities that week.

We will hold an Open House from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on January 30th.  This is  one of the most important dates on our calendar this month. We need our parents, students, staff and faculty to promote, support and attend this open house. Please seek to invite as many friends and families as possible; spread the word through your networks, businesses, and work.  Think of places where you  could place flyers and promo cards. Let‟s do our best to share the Everest Advantage with others. We hope to have a full house and to make this our most successful open house to date!

We at Everest are grateful to each one of our Everest Families-thank you!  You have all done so much to support the work at school as well as to help us progress. We are truly blessed with the finest families we could hope for! We encourage you to please continue to participate in your child's integral formation, and their school experience by becoming involved in one of our parent committees that positively impact our students on a daily basis. Do resolve to get involved in this New Year! We need you to help Everest Academy become all that it is intended to become in order to best serve our children and our families.

The partnership between home and school has never been as important as it is now. The faculty and staff of
Everest Academy look forward to our continued teamwork with you to make our students‟ educational experience formative, challenging, Christ-centered, personal and rewarding.

We wish you and our students a very Happy and blessed New Year.  May the peace of Christ, good health and happiness be yours in the coming year.

Sincerely in Christ,
Christine Gamache

Principal’s Message

Dear Families, Faculty, Staff and Friends of Everest Academy,

We have entered into the peaceful season of Advent, waiting and preparing in anticipation for the coming of Christ this Christmas. What a grace filled season.  We are at the same time already at the close of the second quarter withhalf of our school year behind us.  In the upcoming months we will focus to ensure we are completing our program ostudies, aiming for the best overall integral formation, and continuing to develop our school. In doing so there are specific areas I would like to bring to your attention for your consideration at this time:

Parent Satisfaction: At the top of our priorities for the future of Everest Academy is to ensure the satisfaction of our own families and the progress and the success of our students. In doing so I invite each one of our families to meet with me as well as Father Andre LaSana LC at the beginning of the New Year; we wish to discuss with you your insights and how we may better serve you and your family.  We will be contacting you to arrange meeting times. We will also be sending out our Parent Satisfaction Survey in the near future.

New Phone System:  A new phone system has been installed that will allow us contact to each classroom as well a to have an intercom system. This is a real asset and benefit to the school, enhancing our safety and communication features. We thank Dr. Akroush, Mr. Yep and Mr. Stone for the instillation of the system.

Strategic Planning:  In addition, with  the strategic planning that has begun, we are seeking to form committees to serve  and to  support our school: Development, Curriculum and Resources, Marketing, Finance; Facilities and Maintenance; Despite being in operation for some years, we know at Everest we are still very much in foundation. This is an exciting prospect as we are cofounders in the building of our school. The strength and success of our chool depends on our parent commitment and involvement both in the teamwork with you in your child’s education as well as in taking an active role on one of our committees.   We thank you for being a part of this beautiful work of God.

Enrollment: I cannot forgo mentioning that we are at the most important time in the cycle of enrollment. In order to plan for next school year, develop our budget as well as to hire more faculty members, we count on re-enrollment and we hope to increase in new enrollments. We know we have a precious gift to share with others and we truly hope you will please invite new families to join us our Everest family and community to benefit from the education, love and care offered our students. Please take advantage of the Referral bonus program  offered  and considerinviting new families to come by to experience the Everest Advantage.

Annual Fund Campaign:  Equally as important is our Annual Fund Campaign. This is a main fundraiser in which we seek to gain 100% participation from our whole Everest community; No contribution is too large or too small and we sincerely thank you for your generosity.

The Everest Academy Gala:  The best fundraiser of all is  the Gala as it is a  time to really enjoy one another’s company and to showcase our school! What makes it even better is that we have extremely dedicated and dynamic committee members working to make this the event you do not want to miss. Please see our committee members for your family Gala package. The Everest Academy Gala, with your help and enthusiasm,  could well be the Lemont Event of the year!

We are thankful for our new members to our team as we begin our third quarter: Miss. Stephanie DeRoche and Mrs. Elise Pratt, both known to our school community as co-founders are now here to see us to a new level of school life. Please join us in welcoming and supporting them as they begin their new positions. We wish the very best to Mrs. Duval and Mrs. Lemming both of which we will continue to see.

I hope you enjoy this blessed Advent season as a time greater reflection and prayer with some  pre celebration time at the Everest Academy Christmas Party hosted by the Colarelli family.  I look foreward to seeing you at the  long awaited Nativity presentation: Following a Star. Please invite friends and family.  God bless you and thank you for all.

I thank God everyday for each one of our families and I am so grateful for all you do for the good of your children and your family.

Sincerely in Christ,
Christine Gamache
Dear Everest Academy Parents and Friends,
So much has taken place in this first quarter of school all with your help and support. Lively events and accomplishments all are sure signs of a healthy and vibrant school environment. We are here for a purpose and each day we strive to live this out in an academically challenging, joyful and loving surroundings, a place where students will flourish as Christian leaders day by day.

Our latest and greatest event was the Harvest Fest. Many thanks to Susie Lambert, Annette Waligora, Nicole Stafford and their team for all of their efforts in making this event a huge success! I enjoyed seeing so many of our families participate. There were in the area of 150+ attendees in the day's festivities. All the details from pumpkin decorating, a variety of tasty food and snacks, fun and games, to Mr. Hamilton‟s roaring indoor bonfire …a great time was had by all! Thank you to all who participated in this event.

Everest Academy parents are so generously involved in our school. We see the Gala committee working hard and with all well underway, the Mom‟s Coffee‟s, Hot Lunch preparations, new moms coming out for breakfast, the strategic planning committees at work, all developing the future of our children and Everest Academy. Thank you to all of you.
We are very pleased at this time to announce that we have a new member on our Everest team. We welcome Natalia Bleka as our Marketing Coordinator. Natalia is now in her second week here at Everest Academy. She will be working closely with Sue Zabilka in developing our marketing effort as well as supporting in the Admissions role. Natalia will be at the school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We look forward to working with her in our goal of making the Everest family grow. Please join us in welcoming Natalia.

Our recently held parent conferences allowed time with our dedicated teachers and parents to meet. Thank you to the many families who participated. Parent involvement in their children's education is vital to their success and that of our educational program. Please do contact us if you would like more time to discuss your child‟s progress. We are working to make improvements in all of our programs, with a particular focus on the academics, human and the apostolic formation programs. We intend to bring you up to date on the direction for each of these areas prior to the New Year.

Prayer is the real power behind all we are doing in our school. We need it as much as the air we breathe. Certainly our team here at Everest counts on your prayers. We invite you to join us, as we will begin regular adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each month by class. Each class will take 15 minutes of prayer time with our Lord. These prayer times will be alternately led by Brother Juan and Miss. Teresa. All families are welcome for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the last Thursday of each month beginning this month. As well the Lean on Me Holy Hour takes please every Thursday. These are opportunities to offer prayers of petition and thanksgiving.

With that said, we at Everest Academy have so much to be thankful for and very particularly some very exciting news to be especially thankful for, that you all may well already know, however we are officially announcing it now: A new playground is coming for our children at Everest Academy!! Thanks to the tremendous generosity of the Mr. and Mrs. Ed and Joan Bleka, our children will be soon playing on beautiful playground equipment. We are so grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Bleka for their ongoing kindness and generosity towards the school development and our families.

A school definitely becomes fully a school with a playground! We have the additional daily recess this year and now a very specific play area for our children to spend that recess time. I am personally elated and humbled by this beautiful gift for our children and by the Bleka family‟s dedication to the mission and progress of our school. We intend to have an official opening ceremony for our playground with the specific dates to be announced in the near future.
We have been very blessed in the foundation of this school by all of our families, so many who have given generously of their time and talents and have made great sacrifices that have brought us here today. This beautiful gift is another example of this. We thank God and we keep you all in our thanksgiving prayers.

Below is the playground structure that will be installed. Although not shown here there will be a set of swings included as well. Please see the enlarged plan that we have on display here at the school. The playground will be delivered very soon sometime in the area of November 12th. We are blessed to have the expert management and supervision of this project by Mr. Tom Girouard and his experienced team. Mr. Girouard has been instrumental in working with parents, Mrs. Awe, Mrs. Stafford and Mrs. Ramirez last year to initiate the playground project and this year to see to the promotion and development of the playground.

The construction site work officially began on All Saints Day. The playground will be installedquickly with all required except for the playground surfacing to complete in the week of November 16th. We are looking for volunteers to install the safety surface (mulch) once it is delivered to the site over the November 20-21 weekend. Please let us know if you may be able to come out for sometime on that day in order to have all up and ready for PLAY for our children.

This is so exciting for our faculty and staff that we will have to be sure we make room for the children and keep off the equipment ourselvesJ!

Your families are in my daily prayers.
God bless you,
Sincerely in Christ,
Christine Gamache
