The Everest Academy faculty and staff is making strides in technological applications in the classroom. On November 7 they joined the Archdiocese of Chicago at a technology conference on Best Practices in Technology Integration with educational expert and featured Speaker, Meg Ormiston.

Meg is passionate about transforming teaching and learning through the power of digital tools. Meg’s extensive experience as a classroom teacher for over a decade and as a school board president enables her to connect with teachers and administrators across curriculums and grade levels. She is developing online professional development to engage staff anytime and anywhere. Meg was just awarded the prestigious 2010 “Book of the Year” award for her book, Creating a Digital Rich Classroom.

There were over 20 breakout sessions including “Personal Professional Development Using Twitter” and “Technology to Differentiate Instruction.” There were interactive white board and software vendors on display, allowing the Everest team to explore the best possible technology sources for the classroom.

Teacher professional development

Guest speaker: Jim Fannin

Teachers took time for professional development this Wednesday with guest presenter Mr. Jim Fannin. Thinking positive, appreciating our loved ones, seeking to optimize student learning were topics of Mr. Fannin’s presentation.

Jim Fannin is the world's #1 Coach of Champions. Jim has coached more champions - in sports, business and life - than anyone else on earth. As a mental performance coach to some of the world's top athletes and most successful company CEOs, he has been called the "Change Your Life" Coach. Jim’s S.C.O.R.E ®  Success System has transformed tens of thousands of people's lives by teaching them to reduce and manage their thoughts - putting them in a "Zone State."

Present to introduce Mr. Fannin’s was his friend and supporter, Dr. John Planek, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Loyola University Chicago.   Dr. Planek shared that he has seen Jim’s system improve the performance of both coaches and athletes.
