Welcome to the 2011-2012 Everest Academy school year! We would like to take this opportunity to introduce all of you to the Everest Academy Parents Association. The EAPA has existed for some years now, supporting and organizing many of the various events held throughout the school year. We support Room Moms and other events such as Grandparent’s Day, Teacher Appreciation Day and Field Day. Thus, the primary role of the EAPA is to support the administration, but not only that! We are a school community and therefore work to foster a sense of community spirit in all we do!
This year some of the members of the EAPA are:
James and Renee Yep, Presidents
Daniel and Annette Waligora, Vice Presidents
Cindy O’Malley, Secretary
Jenny Duffy, Treasurer
Just like so many of our school families, we volunteer; we recognize the need to get involved in making Everest Academy the best academic institution in all of Chicago! There’s room for everyone, so please let one of us know if you would like to volunteer in the many areas of need.
Our goal for this year is to unite in the mission of Everest, which is forming leaders for Christ! Many of this year’s programs will reflect this goal, as we come together as a school family to support and encourage one another.
To assure the success of our wonderful school events, we are asking each family for a $25.00 Everest Academy Parents Association activity fee. This fee is going to help cover costs for the events throughout the year as well as hospitality. We are asking that this activity fee be paid on Meet and Greet day, August 26, 2011.
All of us in the Everest Academy Parents Association are looking forward to an exciting new year. We look forward to strengthening friendships from the past, and making new friends with all our newly enrolled families! May God continue to bless our school as we work and pray to form our children to be great leaders for Christ!
Sincerely,
Presidents
Daniel and Annette Waligora
Vice Presidents

Dear Everest Families,
As you are already aware, we will be having a Used Uniform Sale at Meet and Greet. If you still have used uniforms you would like to donate, there is still time! Drop them off at the school before August 24th. If you are interested in purchasing a few items from this sale, act now. Send a note (theyeps@comcast.net) of the items that you are looking for, and they will be set aside with your name on it, for you to purchase on Meet and Greet.
Item | Cost | Item | Cost |
Sweater Vests | $10 | Blazers | $15 |
Sweater Long Sleeved | $12 | Ties | $2 |
Jumpers | $10 | Gym shirts or shorts | $3 |
White Shirts (any kind) | $5 | Gym pants | $7 |
Pants | $5 | Gym jackets | $7 |
Sweatshirts | $7 |
Wondering where these funds will go? We have a new project in the works: a new Chapel Songbook/Prayerbook. Funds from Used Uniform Sales will help to cover the printing costs of these new songbooks.
**Please note: the final design of the song book cover is still in the editing process.**

Dear Everest Parents,
Given the interest some of you have had in an After School Care Program, we are pleased to announce that we will be able to offer this service. Thank you for your patience as it has taken some time to arrive at discerning the feasibility of this program, including identifying the after school care providers.
Although there are some further details to be worked out at this time, we would like to announce that the After School Care Program will be offered in two shifts:
12:00-3:00 pm Monday-Friday
3:00-5:00pm Monday-Friday (perhaps until 6:00pm depending on the need)
We are very pleased that this service will be delivered from within our own community. Mrs. Mary Haughey and Mrs. Jones will be working with the children on alternate days during the 12:00-3:00pm timeframe. Mrs. Stacey Stone will be working with the children during the 3:00-5:00pm timeframe.
At this time, the program will be operated from the PreK 3 classroom. The basic rate is $6.00 per hour. There will be various payment options presented. This service will be offered and will continue to be offered if the need exists and if families are committed to utilizing this service. As this will be our first year in providing this service, we thank you for your patience in helping us to see to its establishment and effective operation.
We will be sending out program registration forms this week. In the meantime, please confirm with Candy Hamilton (everestadmin@everestlemont.com) your intention to utilize this service.
Thank you very much and we look forward to seeing you this Friday at Meet and Greet.
God bless you,
Sincerely in Christ,
Christine Gamache
Principal

Dear Everest Families,
Hopefully, by now, you have been able to purchase most (if not all) of your school supplies. However, we have heard from a number of you that you are having some difficulties locating items or have questions. Please see the list below to see if this may help you in your shopping:
Grade(s) | Item | Notes / Further Explanation |
K-4 | Mead Notebooks (sewn binding) Primary Composition Book Full Page dotted lined | If you haven’t been able to find a Mead brand, other brands are acceptable. Also, we have some notebooks available here at the school. If you need one, please request one at Meet and Greet. |
PK-2 | Tee Shirt or Smock | This may be an oversized shirt – something to cover the student’s uniform during art projects |
3-4 | Paint/Lab Smock | This may be an oversized shirt – something to cover the student’s uniform during art projects |
5-8 | White Lab Coat | A simple, inexpensive lab coat to be used over the uniform for use during science experiments |
3-8 | Pottery Clay | The pottery clay is to be natural earth clay (either gray or red/rust in color) that does require baking… not playdoh or the chemically based clays. |
If you have further questions or another question regarding school supplies, please do not hesitate ask me or ask your teacher when you bring your school supplies to Meet and Greet next Friday, Aug 26th. See you then!
Yours in Christ,
Candy Hamilton

Dear Everest Parents,
As you are preparing for the school year, please consider this news item:
Have you found that your children have outgrown their uniforms and aren’t sure what to do with them? You can donate them back to the school.
Please drop off your items by Monday, August 22nd. All uniforms will be washed, pressed, and ready for re-sale at Meet and Greet Day.
Are you hoping to buy a gently used uniform? If there is a specific item that you are looking for, you may contact Renee Yep. She will set aside items on a “first come, first serve” basis. Otherwise, you may stop by the Used Uniform table at Meet and Greet.
You may contact Renee at 708-301-2641 or theyeps@comcast.net
Yours in Christ,
Candy Hamilton

Dear Everest Families and Friends,
As you know we have a special event coming up that you do not want to miss!
Our technology committee has partnered up with Brookhaven Market Place who is hosting a Wine Tasting event in our honor.
This event is public and open to the community. All proceeds from the entrance fee will go to support our school technology fund.
In addition to being an initiative that helps us to raise the academic excellence at Everest Academy, this event serves to profile Everest Academy in a new community where we hope to build new relationships.
We look forward to seeing you there. Please send this information to your friends and families. The company, the service and refreshments promise to be supreme. Special appetizers and desserts have been chosen to complement the wine and champagne by Chef Brian and George the Wine Geek and Chocolatier. To just mention a few: beef tenderloin sliders, crab cakes, delectable chocolate fountain, homemade chocolate turtles, chocolate raspberry truffles, and more…
We hope to see you all next Tuesday, Aug 9 beginning at 8:30pm
at Brookhaven Marketplace in Burr Ridge
Call 630-908-3180 by Sunday, August 7th to reserve a spot for you and your friends
Take a look at the attached collage for a few pictures of their last wine and food tasting event to get your taste buds going...
Sincerely in Christ,
Christine Gamache
Principal
