Thy Kingdom Come! Greetings on this sunny day, currently a balmy 34 in Hillside. Sunday’s Gospel illustrated the Samari-tan woman’s thirst for God, her thirst for an answer to her life, for meaning, and it also showed how thirsty the Lord himself was to receive her love and be her life’s goal.
Everest Academy is extremely pleased to be able to offer you and your children the chance to participate in slaking people’s thirst for God, and God’s thirst for people’s hearts, right here in Chicago! Every year since 2005, the Legionaries and their friends have participated in "Holy Week Missions" held in 10 to 14 parishes in Chicago, from Holy Thursday through Easter Sunday. These missions consist of a little train-ing in personal prayer from Legionaries, training in some simple aspect of "missionarying", and time to practice it LIVE! Then there’s a meal and sharing of good stories of how things went.
Take a look at the schedule and give your kids a chance to practice a lot of leadership and self-confidence, along with learning about their faith and receiving a jolt of joy and enthusiasm as they spread the good news!
You can join us on any day, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, at these times:
MORNING -
START at St Gerald’s Parish (see attached) at
8.30 am for breakfast OR
9.00 am for a preached Gospel reflection OR
10.00 am for a "how-to" talk on the mission of the morning
END by staying for lunch at 12.30 pm at the parish
AFTERNOON –
START at St Gerald’s Parish (see attached)
12.30 pm lunch
1.30 pm door-to-door missions with a team of others AND
Stay as long as you want (see schedule), leave anytime!
