This year we welcome two new formation instructors

Br. Brett Taira LC and Kate Jamicky

As we welcome our 2012-2013 formation instructors, we also want to wish the best to Brother Dustin and Ms. Sonia Baldwin who served last year.  While we may still see Br. Dustin on campus, this fall he will begin his new work of traveling before his year of studies in Rome next year. Ms. Sonia will also be on campus from time to time; however, she will be working full time at the home of the Consecrated members in North Lake tending to management of the house (in which 12 other consecrated members live) as well as technical support.

Formation instructors work to provide our students the personal attention required for their integral formation with an emphasis on spiritual and character formation. They seek to get to know all of our students, and work with each one, primarily in grades 3-8, to achieve their personal formation goals and to become the best they can be.  You may see our formation instructors helping with arrival and dismissal, playing at recess with the students, running the contests and campaigns, preparing students for Mass, teaching students how to pray, teaching Catholic Formation classes, preparing the liturgies for special occasions, assisting faculty members, as well as numerous other areas in the school (e.g., hosting the Mother Daughter event or the Father Son Camp Out). We are blessed to have them as part of our faculty and staff at Everest Academy.

Br. Brett Taira was born in Santa Barbara, California and raised in sunny Orange County. He graduated from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana in 2000. From 2000-2004, he double majored in Philosophy and Electrical Engineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas. While in Cheshire, Br Brett taught CCD for 5th grade at St. Bridget’s parish, and also organized and participated in door to door missions in various parishes in both the Hartford and Bridgeport Dioceses. From 2007 to 2011, Br Brett studied in Rome at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, obtaining both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in philosophy.
