Lent 1o1. You may not be in the habit of reading the Pope’s messages, and you may well think that surfing the Vatican’s web site (www.vatican.va for the curious) is for theologians and priests only. But the truth is, the Pope is a powerfully good teacher for all of us! If you read his letter, which he wrote for you this Lent, here’s what you get in your Lent 101 refresher course:
· An explanation of Baptism that improves upon what you learned in first grade, especially Baptism’s linkage to Lent
· A summary in a few lines of EACH of the Gospels for the five Sundays in Lent – check these out before you go to Mass each Sunday, and Mass will pack a better whallop for you: you’ll have a “take” on the Gospel before you even hear the homily
· Lent’s Big Three – fasting, almsgiving, prayer – rendered current and challenging for today: fasting as fasting from self, almsgiving as turning towards others, prayer as time redefined

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for making Everest Academy a reality. With the aid of the Holy Spirit, may we touch the lives of many people and bring to our community the joy of knowing and loving Jesus Christ. We thank Our Mother Mary for her help and ask for her continued care and protection. Amen.

Spend some time with Jesus every Thursday, after morning Mass 7:45am
