Father-Son Bonfire, October 28

Though the campout was cancelled, Everest Academy fathers and sons (and Brothers Dustin and Brett) still got to test their fire-building, hot-dog cooking, s'more making, target shooting, flashlight tagging, sparkler-lighting (and world series watching) skills. Thank you to the Hamilton family for hosting this last-minute consolation event to those who had registered for the campout.

Everest Academy hosted its First Annual Father/Son Camp-Out right here our Everest Academy back yard.  With the help of many hard working dads, not to mention Tom Polivka's tractor mower, the coworker‟s strong arms, the Everest Academy Camp Ground was born. Complete with fire pit, exploring trails and plenty of parking spaces, the campground hosted a dozen tents with room for more.

Not to be left out were Fr. Andre and Br. Juan who braved the cool, wet night like true outdoorsmen (word around the fire was that the two co-workers spent the night in their car!)   After many games, sports, formative talks, meals and Mass, the camp-out ended with the  "Raising of the Cross."   In a heroic team effort, the fathers and sons hoisted up a twenty-five foot cross they fashioned from the wood of nearby trees.  There it stands as a testament to the Christ-centered mission of Everest Academy.

Highlights of this fun event included: No Boy Left Standing late night dodge ball, S'mores by the fire, Spud shooting, Father/son football game, Breakfast of Champions provided by two industrious Everest moms, Christening the campground. Wow what heroic spirit a great time was had by all-if you missed this event do plan to attend next time around!!
