Here's a look back at school events from March 2013

Lenten Family Fun Night

Families gathered for dinner provided by the Parents' Association and Stations of the Cross led by our 3rd and 4th graders.  Click HERE for more photos.

Moms' Coffee

Everest moms were treated to a special Lenten event hosted by our Moms' Fellowship which included an inspirational  talk by Miss Celine Martin and spa services provided by Extasy Hair Studio and Salon, which is owned by Everest mom Monika Greczek Doktoryczyk.

Election of Pope Francis

On March 13th, students gathered in the cafeteria after white smoke was announced.  As we all waited anxiously in the cafeteria for the announcement of our new pope, students, staff and faculty prayed a rosary for the new pope.  The next day, the Parents' Association provided cupcakes to celebrate the election of Pope Francis.

Pi Day

Each March 14th, our middle school students celebrate the number pi (3.14)
with pie tasting.  Thanks to all the families who donated pies for the fun event!

St. Patrick's Day and Green Feast Celebration

Students celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a Green Feast sponsored by our Student Council.
Students were able to taste of host of green foods and drinks such as broccoli, grapes, green peppers, Goddess Green dip, and Green River.

Day for Dad

On the Feast of St. Joseph, a Mass was celebrated in honor of our Everest fathers.
Afterwards, students shared their love for their dads with a special song "Dad is My One Hero," followed by brunch and visits to the classrooms for special activities.

Co-Ed Volleyball

On March 27th, Everest participated in its first Co-Ed Volleyball game.  Even though we lost the game, it was a great experience for our students.  Special thanks to coaches Kelly Russell and Keith Hamilton for helping us put together our first volleyball team!

Living Stations
On Holy Thursday, our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students presented a very moving presentation of the Stations of the Cross for the Everest community, helping us to enter into the Holy Triduum.

No Playing Around

While many were enjoying their Easter break, a few of our Everest dads were taking apart a Lemont playground with hopes putting the equipment to use at on our school grounds.
Thank you to the Lemont Park District for the generous donation and to these dads for their hard work!

The Knights of the Altar cordially invite you to the
Knighting Ceremony at Everest Academy
on Friday, April 19 at 2:00pm.

The ceremony will take place during Holy Mass
in the school chapel.

Happy Easter to everyone!

I hope your Holy Week and Easter were full of joy and blessings! The Easter season is marked in particular by the joy of the Risen Christ. This month we will be helping our students combine that joy with a very important virtue that Jesus lived, obedience. It was through obedience to the Father’s will that Jesus Christ redeemed mankind, so this is a virtue of supreme importance in our Christian lives, as well as in our families! Hopefully, we can team work throughout this month to help each of our students realize the importance of joyful obedience, both at school and at home.

As a means to help the students better understand this virtue, ideas of how to live joyful obedience will be posted on the wall. Each time they live joyful obedience they will uncover part of the risen Jesus standing outside the empty tomb, reminding them that the joy of Easter should characterize our obedience.

I invite each one of us to also reflect on the example of Jesus’ obedience to the Father’s plan, and on the joy that should characterize us. Obedience is virtue that all of us, as children of God, are constantly striving towards.

May the Risen Lord fill you with joy and peace! God Bless!

Sts. Joachim & Ann

Parents of Mary, Mother of Jesus

St. Joachim and St. Ann were Mary's parents. They loved God very much, and they taught little Mary their strong faith. They trusted in God's special plan of love for their family, no matter what. This made it possible for God to carry out the most amazing plan of love!

God asked Mary to become the mother of Jesus, his Son. How could this be possible? Mary was not sure, but she had learned from her parents to trust God's word. St. Joachim and St. Ann had taught Mary to love God's plan by talking with God in her heart. They had taught her to pray! Mary said "YES!" to God's plan right away. She became the mother of JESUS!

St. Joachim and St. Ann, help me to love God's plan by obeying my parents right away!
