Dear Everest families,

We are already almost into our 3rd week of Advent!  This Sunday we will be lighting the third candle of the Advent wreath, the only pink candle, as a reminder that Jesus will soon be born!  The students have been preparing their hearts for Jesus’ birth by coming up with their own resolutions (A simple prayer, sacrifice and act of kindness) to work on during this time of Advent to ensure their hearts are ready to receive Him Christmas morning.

I hope that each of you have been having a wonderful Advent season and have been able to be receptive of the immense graces Our Lord pours out on each of us during this time as we sincerely empty our hearts of the dust and clutter that has built up and rekindle the flame in our hearts. May we offer Baby Jesus a heart that is full of love and joy this Christmas season.

May our Blessed Mother watch over your families and help each of you to live this Christmas very close to her Son.

God bless you!

“Be strong, fear not! Here is your God…He comes to save you.”
-Isaiah 35:4
Dear Parents,

The past few weeks the students have all been working on order in their classrooms and in their cubbies. I have noticed great improvement from some of our students, especially in our Lower School. They have all been trying to hang up their coats in the morning, and have their book bags neatly stored away. It is beautiful to see what a little encouragement can do for some of our students! Children are generally always eager to learn and to better themselves, and for this reason every moment is an opportunity to help form our students to be the best that they can be. I encourage you as parents to make sure there is a daily routine for them to follow at home, as that will only help them to be constant in forming the habit of being orderly. This is a well needed virtue that gives peace of mind to everyone, especially you as parents.

Know that you and your families are in our prayers as we get closer to Holy Week. We have reminded our students that Lent and Holy Week is a very special time to console the heart of Jesus, and to stop and remember the great love that Jesus has for each one of us. Our Mission Corp Volunteers will be going into each classroom next week with a simple activity to help the students come up with practical ways to live their Holy Week very close to Jesus.

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.” 1 Jn 3:16 May these last few weeks of Lent be a time where we imitate Christ’s love for us by going out of our way to love those that Christ has put in our lives.

Count on my prayers for you and your family!

Dear Parents and families of Everest Academy,

It is truly a joy to begin the new year here at Everest with your children. We have a very exciting year ahead of us and I know God has many blessings in store for each one of you. Being a parent is never easy, but it is so rewarding when you see them grow both physically and spiritually. Our virtue of the month that we will be working on is “Work”, with the special focus that of working on  Charity. We want our students to understand the importance of this virtue, and as St. Paul reminds us “These three remain: faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love…” 1
Corinthians:13.

Christ Himself has told us to love one another as He has loved us. Let us ask Him for the grace of being authentic Christians that live out in our daily lives this beautiful virtue of charity. Living out this virtue is demanding, but at the same time so rewarding. It requires a lot of self control, always seeking to focus on the positive aspects of someone rather than the negative and striving to always speak positively of others.

My mom would always tell me, “Charity begins at home…” so I ask you to motivate and encourage your children while you are together as a family to look for ways to be more charitable in their thoughts, words and actions. If we are sincerely fighting to live this virtue of Charity, I know we will be consoling Our Lord‟s heart.

Count on my prayers for you and your family always.  God bless you!
