St Therese of the Child Jesus

Therese Martin lived in a happy French family about 100 years ago. Although she wanted to love Jesus with all her heart, it wasn’t always easy. Her mother died when she was only five. This hurt a lot, but Therese told Jesus she was glad she could suffer as he had when he died in love for us. Therese wanted to be just like Jesus.  Therese knew she was little and could not do “big” things for Jesus, so she decided to offer him her little sufferings instead. She had a lot of energy and felt things deeply, so it was hard when she felt hurt, or was accused of making mistakes that were someone else’s fault. But she never said a word, and offered her sufferings secretly to Jesus. She called this her “Little Way.” She became a great saint and “doctor” of the Church, all by making small, secret sacrifices with love to Jesus!

Jesus, help me do little things well, even when they are hard to do, and offer them with love to you! Amen.

About Everest
