 Doors open at 6:30pm

As a result of the creativity and hard work of our Parents' Association and the support of Everest families over the past year, $2700 was raised that was used to purchase new student laptops!  While $1900 was generated through the Everest Around Town Fundraiser at Home Run Inn and raffle for a Bears' Hampton jersey, another $800 was raised through the collection of Box Tops!

Picture below are the new student laptops, as well as pictures from the fundraising event at Home Run Inn Restaurant in Darien held in February.

St. Philip Neri

The Joyful Saint

St. Philip Neri is known as the Joyful Saint. He lived in Rome in the 1500s, and started a group called the Oratory to help lay people and priests become closer to Jesus. He helped people overcome their faults by making them laugh!

Fr. Philip knew how important careful speech is. One day a man came to him and told him he was having trouble because he could not stop saying bad things about other people. Fr. Philip told him to take a big bag of feathers and go up on the roof. He told him to open the bag and shake the feathers out. When the man did this, the feathers were caught by the wind and blew far and wide throughout town. Fr. Philip then told the man to go and collect every feather. The man looked at him in dismay. Fr. Philip said, “Bad words are like feathers. Once they are out of the bag, they spread to all corners of town, and can never be taken back again!”

Mary, help me to think and speak carefully!

May has arrived and the “Flowers for Mary” Mission of the month is a great one to help everyone with “Careful Speech” through the end of the school year.  Like the Mission Song says: Yank bad thought weeds and plant “Careful Speech” seeds and get some flowers for Mary!
