Poetry Recitation Contest, October 21

On Friday October 21st, Everest Academy had their first annual Poetry Recitation Contest. The students have been practicing poetry as part of their Integral Formation. Participation involved students from Kindergarten to 8thgrade. Preliminary round competitions were held during the week of October 17-20. Two finalists were chosen from each class to compete in the final round. The competition was intense. All the students were well-accomplished and did extraordinarily well. Overall, it was an exciting event where we were able to enjoy seeing the talent of so many of our students.

Thank you to all parents for your work in preparing your children at home, and for your attendance at this beautiful event. And thank you to our judges Fr. Mathew, Br. Dustin, Mrs. Cathy A'Hearn and our faculty.

~Cultivate an interest in and appreciation for poetry, and to be encouraged to memorize and recite poetry for entertainment and academic scholarship.
~Exercise and improve the memory, development of analysis of poetry, the poet's message.
~Enhance skills in personal presentation; learn correct posture, sense of expression, use of voice inflections, hand gestures, expression
~Enhance public speaking ability; gain confidence as a public speaker and presenter as well as provide students with a sense of accomplishment in reciting the poetry.
