The Virtue of the Month for November is Family Spirit.

This month we are going to learn more about what it means to be a family within the Church and that in our family we have many Saints. We will discover many things about their lives and how we can also become saints ourselves by imitating their virtues.

For our virtue campaign, we will be building teamwork within each grade as each class is going to have a Saint assigned to them. Their objective is to build that saint together throughout the month by decorating a silhouette. When the class fulfills the resolution of the week, they are awarded K4J dollars by their teacher which they can use to buy what they need for their Saint. The winning class will be the one that builds the saint who is the best-looking, most complete, and most authentic to what the saint should look like.

Suggestions for home:
~Help your children see that holiness in daily life means trying to do God's will. We do not always feel like doing what we should, but the moment we do what is good even though we do not have good feelings to help us along, we are doing what it takes to be a holy hero - a saint!

~Sometimes we can worry too much about our children being comfortable, liking their food, watching the latest movie or having the latest fashions. While none of this is bad, when we find ourselves always giving in to their whims we can damage their ability to make choices that are difficult. They become self-centered and want things their way. We can help our children strengthen their will to do what is right each time we gently help them make a small sacrifice.

~The children learn about saints this month. Take one dinnertime moment to ask them about a saint they have enjoyed hearing about. Help them realize all the sacrifices the saint made to be a holy hero while on earth.

~Use the special Church feasts in November of All Saints and All Souls to celebrate with your children. Dress up like favorite saints who are in heaven with Jesus and can really help us grow in love when we are them! Visit a cemetery to pray for those who have died and are still very real members of our Church family, waiting to be able to love completely and be with Jesus face to face. Let's remember each other and join with our entire Church family to help each other love Jesus more.

~We find that whenever we try to live the faith in our homes, among them daily trials there is also joy and serenity. The joy is in knowing that Jesus guides us each day and he communicates with us the needs of each family member. God always outdoes us in generosity. This Thanksgiving, take time to thank Godthat you are able to form your children to be loving, unselfish, and to find the meaning of life that God intends.
