November brings with it the change of the leaves, a crisp breeze and the old tradition of Thanksgiving.  The history of giving thanks dates back to ancient times, when people of many cultures gave thanks to their God for a successful harvest.  Some of the traditions associated with modern Thanksgiving celebrations have their roots in these ancient festivals.
The original American Thanksgiving celebration took place in 1621, near the end of the Plymouth colony’s first year in America.   In 1789, George Washington, the republic's first president, proclaimed November 26, 1789, as a day for thanking God for bringing America through its trials and an official holiday was marked.   In America, thanksgiving is celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday in November. This day was historically set by the U.S. Congress in 1941, after Abraham Lincoln in 1863 had previously declared the last Thursday in November as Thanksgiving Day.
This Thanksgiving, Bring Your Guests together by talking about something or someone they appreciate in their lives and help Spread Positivity by finding time to volunteer.
As you prepare for the fest, have your children participate in the Box Tops for Education program.  It is an easy and fun way for students to participate and contribute to their school.
Simply clip the Box Tops from the attached products list and attach to the Turkey Time sheet.
The first collection will be done after the holiday season.
When time permits, kindly visit www.boxtops4education.com for recipe ideas, monthly promotions and bonus opportunities; please see the attached.
Warmest regards,
