“ARTISTIC EXPRESSIONS”
ATTENTION DEAR PARENTS,
Some time ago we introduced the upcoming Event an Art program that is happening within the Lemont school District called “Artistic Expressions” We hope all our students and families will participate. The theme of the program is: “Community is….” All the schools in Lemont grades K-8th will be participating, both public and private which accounts for over 2,500 students!

The best part is that Everest Academy has been chosen to host this grand event! What a great opportunity for our school and most importantly for our students!!

Each student was sent home with a packet that contained more information about the program as well as rules and regulations. We are attaching another copy. We are hoping to have 100% participation with our Everest students because we know how much talent lies within this school! This is a great time for our dancers, photographers, painters, sculptors, and computer graphic artists to come out and show the community their talents! As the packet states, there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbon given in each category. The first place in each category will also have their work displayed at the new local Art Gallery in Lemont in the Starbuck’s strip mall across from Jewel.

Everest Academy will also add an extra incentive for any of our students who place (1st, 2nd or 3rd) in any of the categories with a special prize (details to follow). There will be special judges all with an artistic background that will be brought in to judge the contest.

Entries are due on January 19th at the office
The actual “viewing” dates that will be open to everyone are
February 16th and 17th from 6:00-8:00pm

The set up and judging will take place on February 15th. Since Everest has the honor of “hosting” this event, we would like to make a great impression. We will be looking for parents who are willing to be hosts/hostesses, help with set up and take down, students who will be greeters to help escort people through the building. This is a great opportunity to showcase our school.

Please note that this is a project the students will work on outside of school.

We will encourage everyone to participate (they can even work in groups with students from other schools) we will also have a spokesperson from the committee come in to show some examples of last year’s exhibits as well as answer any questions the students may have. In the meantime, please let the creative ideas start to flow! We hope the children will have some time during the Christmas break to work on their projects! Remember, this art, there is no right and wrong and it will not be graded so just have fun! More information and updates will be sent home in the weeks to come! If you are interested in helping, please contact Jenny Duffy or Jennifer Auw.

Thank you very much and God bless you,
