In December, our Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 students and their parents began the first after-school sports club for the preschoolers.

The club is called Little Centurions in honor of Saint Sebastian, the Patron Saint of Sports. St Sebastian was a centurion who was extremely fit and able to withstand long physical endeavors.

He had great endurance,  just like our preschoolers.   As we all know, sometimes we look at our three and four-year-olds and wonder, where do they get all that energy!!!

The soccer class is a parent-with-child format, geared towards a non-competitive, creative game style of teaching balance, ball kicking skills, and listening skills.  The children really seem to enjoy their time together in the school gym.  Comments overheard from the children demonstrate the excitement that was generated by starting this club.  Here are some quotes from the children about their new soccer club:

Claire Auw:  “I love to do the team cheer at the end of class. Go Team!”

John Paul Ramirez: “I like to play the Alien in Coaches‟ Shoes game and kick the ball at
Coach Cindy!”

Sean O‟Malley: “It‟s so much fun to run around in the gym after school with my friends.”

Colby Hamilton: “I like going with my mom and sister Kaylee to soccer so I can play with those brand new soccer balls.”

A.J. Barwick: “I like the Race Car game and I get to shoot goals!”

Classes are expected to resume weekly on Wednesdays in late winter. The session dates will be sent out to our preschool parents soon.
